We received over 500 nominations across 13 categories and these are your shortlisted businesses for Retailer of the Year.

This award recognises a retailer that delivers an outstanding shopping experience and makes a valued contribution to Newcastle-under-Lyme.

The Shortlist

Blacks Menswear

Blacks Menswear combines classic, high quality clothing with experienced and personal customer service. Nominations highlighted the team’s strong product knowledge and ability to understand individual preferences, helping customers choose clothing that suits them.

Judges also valued the opportunity the shop offers its customers to see, feel and try products in person, recognising the shop as a distinctive independent alternative to increasingly impersonal online shopping.

Exhibit Florist

Exhibit Florist was praised for combining creative, high-quality floristry with thoughtful and compassionate customer care. Nominations particularly highlighted Jonathan’s support when arranging funeral flowers, taking time to listen, guide families and understand what they want during a difficult time.

Judges recognised the creativity and attention to detail in his arrangements, alongside a personal and reliable service that makes customers feel genuinely supported.

Hollie’s Habadashery

Hollies Haberdashery was recognised for its friendly and knowledgeable service, both in store and online. Customers value the team’s willingness to offer advice, answer questions and help people find what they need for their individual projects.

Judges also highlighted the warm, welcoming atmosphere created by owner Sarah, its role in bringing people together through shared interests and the local employment the growing business has created.

Sparrowhawk Vintage

Sparrowhawk Vintage offers a distinctive selection of vintage clothing and other unique items in a friendly and welcoming setting. Nominations praised the character of the shop and the enjoyment of discovering something different with each visit.

Judges also recognised how the business, owned by Rhiannon  encourages people to shop locally, choose affordable pre-loved items and support a more sustainable approach through reuse and recycling.

Tony Price Butchers

Tony Price Butchers was praised as a friendly, helpful and family-run retailer with a strong presence on Merrial Street. Customers value the personal service from Rob and the team, as well as a traditional experience offered by a local independent butcher.

Judges recognised the importance of established specialist retailers like Tony Price Butchers and the contribution they make to the variety and character of Newcastle-under-Lyme’s shopping offer.
