This award recognises a pub, bar or ale venue that delivers quality drinks, great service and an enjoyable experience for its customers.

The Shortlist

Bridge Street Ale House

Bridge Street Ale House was praised for its wide range of ales, consistently warm welcome and traditional pub atmosphere. Nominations described it as a friendly venue with a strong connection to its regular customers.

Judges recognised its reputation as a dependable local where quality drinks, good service and a genuine sense of community are at the heart of the experience.

Mellards

Mellards has established itself as a popular venue within Newcastle-under-Ltme with a strong independent identity. Customers praised its regularly changing drinks selection, well kept beers, pizza offer and welcoming team, all set within one of Newcastle-under-Lyme’s characterful historic buildings.

Judges also highlighted the venue’s community feel and its ability to create a relaxed daytime visit as well as a lively evening atmosphere.

The Crossways

The Crossways offers a broad selection of beers, craft drinks and ales within a lively and sociable setting. Nominations praised its team, welcoming service and an atmosphere filled with conversation and plenty of laughter.

Judges also valued its programme of occasional live music and other events, which gives customers more reasons to visit and contributes to Newcastle-under-Lyme’s evening offer.

The Little Vic

The Victoria, known locally as the Little Vic, was praised for its warm welcome, well-kept beers, good choice of drinks and fair prices. Sophie and the team have created a comfortable and inclusive venue where customers from different backgrounds feel at home.

Judges particularly recognised its varied programme of quizzes, open mics, bingo, karaoke, live music and themed evenings, alongside the genuine community that has grown around the pub.

Tiny Tennesse

Tiny Tennessee brings a distinctive American country theme to Newcastle-under-Lyme’s evening economy. Nominations praised its relaxed, feel good atmosphere, Richard’s personal welcome and a drinks selection featuring quality beers alongside American whiskies, rums and gins.

Judges also recognised the owner’s product knowledge, themed live music and the friendly, comfortable experience created within this small but characterful venue.
